Default vBulletin template conflict, blog glitch

I have two quick questions. First, I have a custom template made for vBulletin 3.6.5. You can see it at [url=http://www.buchisdma.com/forums]Buchisdma & Ronin Rebirth - Powered by vBulletin[/url] for future reference. I recently upgraded to 3.6.8 to facilitate installing the new vBulletin blog plugin and eventually, the tools plugin (more on that later). The admin control panel says that there's a conflict in the footer template between the old and new vBulletin versions. I tried hitting revert to see exactly what changed, and as far as I can see all it did was remove the fancy original Forumshelp footer border/graphics. Surely vBulletin 3.6.8 doesn't have a problem with nice graphics? Any idea how I'd go about making my 3.6.5 footer compatable with 3.6.8 without losing the theme?

I just today installed the blog plugin. The theme Forumshelp made for me meshed with it fairly nicely. I was worried. However, there is one small problem. There's white space around a handful of content blocks where it seems the background doesn't cover.
