OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 16th March
Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 16th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/ima...Window02HL.gif Morning lovely OS-ers!

Linky - I would have saved you some trifle but unfortunately I am too much of a piggy. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...009/giggle.gif Though I guess that will all have to stop soon.
Ivyleaf - Yayy you are back - Good to see you and pleased you had a lovely time.
Mooloo - It's usually on the front page, rarely drops off tho occasionally does but just look down the front page and you should find us!
Gemma - a 22 ft conservatory and big kitchen and garden sounds about perfect to me.

Please can everyone send up some thoughts for Tris, he is really not so good and needs strength right now. Thank you.
My OS-iness was a bit lacking yesterday, we ended up having a takeaway. It was really delicious. I paid for it so it wouldnt come out of our grocery budget. Was worth every penny.
http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/ima...s/HShungry.gif Breakfast will be ready brek and fruit.http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...009/giggle.gif Lunch will be coronation chicken sandwiches in HM bread. Dinner will be something made with the bedrock mince mix in the freezer. I think I will throw some tinned toms in it and make pasta bolognaise.
I hope everyones day goes well and that anyone feeling poorly feels better. With love, light and http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/ima.../HShuggies.gif for all.

Desperately need help :/
Hi, hope i've posted this in the right place
I've come to find myself in a desperatly sticky situation, i'll try to explain in full, but if theirs any further details needed just ask.
I'm 19 and currently in full time employment. I'm earning around 700 a month (after tax) and paying around 700 a month in rent and bills to my guardian (whom i currently live with).
I've been on a waiting list for accomodation for nearly 16 months, but making no real progress with that. My guardian's now decided to leave and thus leaving me to be homeless (i've got roughly 5 weeks left here). I live in Chester currently and the only place i've been able to find to live is in Manchester. It's to expensive to commute and so has left me in an awkward situation.
If i remain here, i'm employed and homeless. If i move to manchester i become unemployed (and later homeless). Whilst i am desperatly trying to find employment in manchester, i've also been trying to obtain some kind of finance just to cover those few months that i could be unemployed for, and just to give me some security.
I checked out my experiant report, nothing bad their, they graded me at 965, although does their metric carry any real weight? I have little to no credit history.
So far the cheapest loan i've been offered was at a stomach churning 49% apr.
I'm trying to be sensible and work out what i realistically can afford to repay once i'm back into employment.
I've worked out the cost of relocating to manchester and taken the assumption it will take me 6 months to find full time employment (i'm hoping this is an over estimation).
So based on that i'd need to borrow around £3,500-£4,000. What length period would i be best applying for, and what are my chances of even getting approved?
at £3,500 over a 3 year period i think 19.5% apr is realistically the highest amount i can afford.
I have additional sources of income, however as none of these are stable cashflows i've excluded them from my calculations.
Also once i become fully independent, or whilst i'm job hunting, what benefits could i be entitled to? Job Seekers Allowance? Income support? etc.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have no one who can act as a gurantee for a loan either

Are Primetime TV Gameshow Tips Appropriate on MSE?
I have seen MSE members posting the answers to Ad Break quizzes in the forum in order to help people enter competitions, and I was wondering if there is anywhere on MSE to discuss ways of maximising the winnings of actual game-show contestants?
For example, someone who was lucky enough to get a place on Deal Or No Deal might appreciate advice on how they might tell whether the banker's offer was a good one or not?
Or a contestant on Total Wipe-out, who might appreciate tips on how to negotiate the various obstacles?
Or even a family competing on Ant and Dec's Push The Button who might like to know how they can improve their chances of beating DAVE, the Digital Audio Visual Endgame, should they win through to the end of the show?
Would there be any interest in discussing such topics?
Indeed, would discussion of such money maximising techniques even be appropriate on MSE?
Personally I would consider them to be legitimate topics for discussion on a site interested in money saving tips, but I don't want to assume anything, and the advice here seems to be that if in double ask. So I'm asking
Just so there's no misunderstanding, I'm am trying to make a distinction between, on the one hand, tips for winning money on game-shows and, on the other hand, tips for winning money on television casinos or by other forms of gambling in general, which are obviously quite inappropriate to discuss here. (The only money saving tips that a gambler should be receiving is not to gamble in the first place.)
Anyway, I hope that I haven't offended anyone by asking.

Online Purchase, stated in stock. Turns out this was a lie. Advice? (Paid with CC)
Hello.
I recently bought a few components for a new computer from a well known computer hardware website on the 11th of March - Upon ordering, I selected next day delivery. (I paid with my credit card, but subsequently paid that off - I was after the full protection the card gave me).
The website in question listed "10+" in stock (and still does) and I was told that I would receive items on the 12th of March.
I didn't hear anything from them on the Friday, so raised an 'eticket' and was subsequently told that they did not have one (of three) item in stock and their delivery was delayed but were expecting delivery on the Friday (12th) and I should expect delivery on the Monday (15th).
It then turned out that they did not receive said item on the 12th (they told me this on the 13th, after I contacted them), and did not give me an ETA.
I then contacted them on the 15th (the Monday) and was told they still had not taken delivery, but were expecting it imminently and I ought to phone back after 4pm once all their deliveries had come.
I phoned them back at half 4 on said day and I was told that they had been delayed (circumstances make me doubt this, will go into more detail if required) but they will be taking delivery on the Tuesday (16th).
I want to know where I stand legally with this situation. I am concerned that they seem to be pulling my leg at every opportunity and actually don't have a clue what they are doing.
Further to this, their website still states that they have 10+ in stock. If I knew that they were out of stock I would have purchased a different item.
Also, said item has now increased in price so I do not know where I stand at all.
If it doesn't arrive, with them, today (16th) am I within my rights to cancel the entire order and seek legislative costs for the inconvenience, time & monies that I have sent pursuing this?
I have told them if they do not sort it out in a timely and satisfactory manner (by which, I mean by tomorrow) then I shall be cancelling my order.
Should I advise my bank that I wish to make a charge back with respect to this order too?
I really do not know where I stand - there must be some legislation that prohibits shops from selling produce that they do not actually possess?
Please advise.
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong bit - I paid with my Credit Card to get certain protection so posted in here.
Also, sorry for the very long post. It's late and I don't wish to miss anything out!

Real or fake?
I got a paltry 77% correct.
How many can you spot?

Take a look at these 60 pictures and see if you can tell the real apart from the fakes.
